Overview

Central Florida Health Alliance: Providing Exceptional Healthcare for Over 50 Years Central Florida Health Alliance (CFHA) is a non-profit healthcare organization that has been serving the community for over five decades. Founded in 1955 as the Leesburg Hospital Association, CFHA has grown to become a leading healthcare provider in the region, offering a wide range of medical services and state-of-the-art facilities. The journey of CFHA began with the establishment of Leesburg General Hospital in August 1963. With 76 beds and a 25-member medical staff, the hospital quickly became a vital healthcare resource for the community. Over the years, CFHA expanded its services and facilities, acquiring Lake Community Hospital's facilities in the 1980s and forming a hospital system with 294 beds and over 100 physicians on staff. One of CFHA's notable achievements was the opening of the Leesburg Regional Heart Institute in 1992, which housed the area's first cardiac catheterization suite. Just six years later, CFHA's cardiovascular team performed the hospital's first open-heart surgery, marking a significant milestone in the region's medical history. CFHA has always been at the forefront of medical advancements, continuously bringing cutting-edge technology and procedures to the community. In 2001, CFHA introduced the area's first neurosurgery program, providing specialized care for patients with complex neurological conditions. In 2006, CFHA started performing minimally invasive heart valve repair, offering patients a less invasive alternative to traditional open-heart surgery. In 2009, CFHA achieved another milestone by performing Central Florida's first anterior hip replacement, revolutionizing the way hip surgeries were conducted. In 2012, CFHA made history once again by performing Central Florida's first transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), a groundbreaking procedure for patients with severe aortic stenosis. CFHA's commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare extends beyond its medical services. In 1989, CFHA opened the Wellness Center on the Leesburg Regional north campus, offering a variety of fitness programs and wellness initiatives to promote a healthy lifestyle among the community. In 2010, CFHA underwent a $5 million renovation, enhancing the hospital's infrastructure with a new façade exterior, energy-efficient windows, and updated private patient rooms. In 2013, CFHA celebrated its 50th anniversary and embarked on the construction of an onsite Urgent Care Center, further expanding its services to meet the growing healthcare needs of the community. What sets CFHA apart is its deep-rooted connection with the community. From its humble beginnings as a community-driven initiative, CFHA has always relied on the support and collaboration of the people it serves. The story of how CFHA came to be is a testament to the power of unity and collective effort. Today, that same spirit continues to inspire the dedicated doctors and staff of CFHA as they strive to provide exceptional healthcare to every patient who walks through their doors. As CFHA looks back on its remarkable journey, it remains committed to the future. With a steadfast focus on innovation and patient-centered care, CFHA is poised to continue making significant contributions to the healthcare landscape of Central Florida. As a member of the community, you can rest assured that CFHA will be there for you, ensuring that your healthcare needs are met with compassion, expertise, and the latest advancements in medical technology. Together, CFHA and the community will shape the next 50 years of healthcare excellence, allowing you to look ahead to a healthier and brighter future.
