What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
It might be a good idea to have longer leashes for some people that seem to be doing well, but still to be watched.
What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
If you ever wanted a place to work that will teach you the ins and outs of the work while you work, this is a great place.
What did you not like about this institution?
Until you have proven yourself, you will be shackled to a mentor that feels like they slow you down for awhile.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Renzulli is a small firm with a large practice varying in clients and types of matters litigated for those clients. The environment is fast paced and not for one who wants to go into work and just put on cruise control from 9-5. If you are hardworking, committed to your work and the people you work for, and eager to learn at a faced past this is the place to be. John, the founding partner of the firm has vast trial experience and is passionate about what he does. If you are willing to work for a demanding boss, who is willing to teach you based upon years of experience litigating, this is the place for you. My first few months at the firm John was trying a Plaintiff's case (unusual since this is a defense firm) and he fully emersed me in the trial and trial preparation. Over those few months I got to observe how John and his associate prepared and handled trial. This was valuable experience for someone who plans on being in the legal profession for years to come. My only reason for leaving the firm is that I was relocating to Los Angeles. Another positive aspect of Renzulli is that if you give to them they give to you. There were no ill will feelings towards my relocation and leaving the position. Renzulli Law Firm was extremely helpful in helping me get my position out in Los Angeles, a true sign of a loyal employer. I am forever thankful and grateful for my time and experience at Renzulli Law Firm.
What did you not like about this institution?
Answering the phones as a Paralegal, but this comes with the territory based on the size of the firm.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Very smart, hard-working attorneys. Interesting work and the potential to receive a lot of responsibility and litigation experience for young attorneys. A lot of opportunities to travel throughout the country for depositions, trials, etc. Partners provide close mentoring to associates and are genuinely interested in developing associates' skills. Pay is in-line or above market for small firm associates. The work environment is very friendly and employees (attorneys, paralegals, administrators) often grab a drink after work or gather in the conference room to celebrate birthdays, etc. They recently moved into a great new office space that is surrounded by great places for lunch, a gym, etc.
What did you not like about this institution?
No complaints about this firm. I left only because I was interested in pursuing a different area of law.
How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
Bagel Fridays are great. I loved the travel, however there are roles in the firm that do not require as much travel if you need to stay close to home.

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
The opportunity at this firm is unparalleled. Attorneys here have the opportunity to litigate all aspects of the cases to which they are assigned. Partners will work closely with you to guide the litigation, but at the same time provide Associates with the unique opportunity to drive cases forward. The firm encourages its Associates to take initiative and develop creative litigation strategy. Motivated lawyers will excel. The work is diverse and never boring. For those attorneys early in their careers, this is the ideal firm to hone legal writing skills, gain experience making oral arguments, and develop strong litigation practices. Importantly, the firm offers a real and practical opportunity to build a career with the potential for advancement at the firm. Consistent quality work will be recognized and rewarded. The Partners are smart and experienced attorneys who care about the well being of their employees. Although the hours of a litigator can be intensive, the firm offers a good work/life balance, and the Partners here value the importance of family.
What did you not like about this institution?
Although the firm has many practice areas (include a busy IP practice), it is in large part a high stakes litigation firm. As such, the hours are commensurate with the needs of the practice and the needs of the firm's clients. This is the case at any high stakes litigation firm. Here, however, the firm also recognizes the need for a healthy work/life balance. Those committed to the practice of law will appreciate that long hours pay off.
People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
Don't avoid them. You will invariably learn from them every time you sit down in one of their offices or meet in the conference room to discuss a case. They are good people both professionally and personally.
How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
The people and the work.
The People: It is a privilege to be able to go to work every day and enjoy the company of the people you work with. I have worked at firms where this was not the case, and this quality should not be undervalued.
The Work: For any litigator (which is my practice), this is the ideal firm. There is always plenty of work, which is a testament to the quality of work product at the firm, and the work is diverse. If you enjoy practicing law, you will appreciate the variety of legal issues that you are presented with on a daily basis.

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Stay the course and keep going, the firm is growing and strengthening every day.
What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
Attorneys at Renzulli Law Firm are given substantial opportunities in litigation and transactional matters from the minute they walk in the door. Associates are entrusted with all aspects of litigation, from pleadings through discovery and dispositive motions. Partners provide valuable feedback on work product and help each attorney at the firm foster their skills and practice. Most importantly in my experience, they are willing to look past the dry details of a resume. When I joined the firm I had limited practical experience in Intellectual Property, but it has been the field I most wanted to break into. The partners at RLF started me out with a mix of IP (primarily trademark prosecution and enforcement) and traditional insurance defense matters (where my previous work experience was focused). In short order I was able to prove myself as a valuable member of the IP team and the vast majority of my workload was exclusively trademark matters. It is thanks to RLF that I have gained phenomenal experience in the area of law I was most interested in.
What did you not like about this institution?
The "cons" of working at RLF are really no different than working at any other law firm, especially a small firm. Hours can be long, culture fit is nearly as important as legal aptitude, and with numerous international clients emails can come in at very late hours (I suggest silencing your alerts before going to bed). These small issues can't be avoided when working at a law firm. Perhaps the only true "con" is the level of resources available. RLF is a small firm, and attorneys must be prepared to work hard on lightly staffed matters without the crutch of a hundred other associates there to pick up the slack. This in and of itself can be a pro, so long as you are motivated to grow your career, not simply collect a paycheck.
People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
None. Each partner has valuable experience in different areas of law. Not only will your career benefit from their experience, but trying to do without it is foolish.
How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
The opportunity to develop my practice in intellectual property, work closely with clients to meet their needs, and still be able to pitch in on litigation matters to keep those muscles in shape so I don't become one of "those" transactional attorneys.

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
RLF's decision to promote two hardworking attorneys to Partner was encouraging. Though I have been with the firm for less than a year, there is always a concern among Associates at small firms that the ability to "grow within" is limited. Knowing that RLF will invest in and partner with attorneys who have demonstrated their dedication to the firm inspires Associates to go the extra mile.
What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
For a smaller White Plains-based firm, RLF has a truly dynamic practice representing business clients of all sizes at national and international levels. It has a long and well-regarded history in products liability litigation which has led to expansion into other practice areas including commercial litigation and intellectual property. From the very beginning, new attorneys are assigned cases of varying complexity. While a partner will oversee your work and provide guidance as necessary, Associates are given unparalleled opportunities to manage all aspects of their cases. Though I recently came to the firm as a lateral, I've already learned a great deal from RLF's seasoned litigators.
What did you not like about this institution?
The firm sets high expectations for every one of its team members, both attorneys and staff. While this is not a negative, a leisurely work ethic will not be tolerated. Given the intensity and volume of work, one must be willing to put in the long hours that come with litigation.
People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
I would not avoid any of the Partners. John and Chris have many years of experience handling cases across the country and regularly provide invaluable advice and insight. As a testament to the firm's success and loyalty, two well-deserving attorneys were recently promoted to Partner. They also work hard to make sure Associates and staff are equipped to succeed.
How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
In addition to litigation, which is the firm's specialty, clients depend on RLF for assistance in a wide array of legal matters. While most of my work is litigation-focused, I have had the opportunity to draft commercial and regulatory agreements, research and analyze international law, and provide legal advice to clients on industry best practices.

What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Continue to provide RLF’s employees with a highly supportive work environment in which intellectual curiosity, hard work and enthusiasm are rewarded.
What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
RLF supports its attorneys with experienced partners and solid support staff, yet allows its attorneys to be inventive in addressing the varied legal issues facing its clients by providing knowledgeable partner supervision of attorneys’ creative work. It is by far the most intellectually stimulating position I have held in my years of practice.
What did you not like about this institution?
RLF is not an environment for someone who is satisfied by performing rote work on a daily basis. The Firm prides itself on being available to address its clients’ diverse legal issues, and expects inspired responses to their client's needs. This is a positive aspect of RLF for the prospective employee who wishes to be challenged and held to a high standard.
People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
None. Each of the partners maintains an open-door policy and listens to ideas for addressing issues in specific cases as well as suggestions for solidifying and expanding the Firm’s client base.
How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
It was refreshing to come to this Firm and work with its high caliber of experienced partners, eager and talented associates and enthusiastic support staff. Hard work and “thinking outside the box” are recognized and rewarded.

What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
This firm has very hard working and knowledgeable attorneys. It is truly inspiring having the opportunity to learn from them. The work atmosphere is extremely welcoming with friendly partners, associates and paralegals. I was hired as a paralegal with no prior experience and was fortunate enough to receive adequate training in various matters. Terms and procedures were explained to me in a positive manner and my co-workers were patient with me throughout the learning process. Overall, my experience at Renzulli Law Firm was great! I highly recommend working at this law firm to anyone who is looking to advance their legal career. I would stay here longer, but I am leaving because I am going to law school.
