Advice to law firm management:
Don't expect to be patted on the back but also don't confuse that with a bad work environment. Make sure to work hard and put yourself out there so that you will be noticed.
Pros:
The firm has a reputation for being a more fun and laid back work environment and that is evident as soon as you walk through the door. You are always greeted with friendliness and a smile. They try to keep the environment as positive as possible and the attorneys really want to help the staff.
Cons:
The firm is competitive within some of the departments so it can become easy to know your place and what your exact position is within the Firm. You have to look out for yourself if you want to move up because they don't really notice hard work.

Advice to law firm management:
Management needs to be a little more respondent on problems that arise. The quicker its dealt with, the better.
Pros:
My whole time here has been great and full of energized people and lots of group think. The benefits are great.
Cons:
The management team needs to focus on the priorities during the day and get rid of problems quickly.

Working with FUNED of Honduras, a Tegucigalpa-based organization to provide life-transforming business loans in third-world countries

Participated in the ABA's Death Penalty Representation Project and provided assistance in several habeas corpus proceedings

Summer associate program
Winstead's recruiters interview top law students for our Summer Associate Program each year. Among those students, we invite only a dozen to join the program. A student's decision to apply for the program might be a first step in a long and rewarding career with our firm.
A primary program goal is for each summer associate to experience and understand the day-to-day professional life of a first-year associate at Winstead.
Should you be chosen for the Summer Associate Program, you can expect:
To be immersed in the firm's work and culture as an important team member from the first day of the program.
To participate in the daily activities of Winstead's attorneys, such as attending court hearings, depositions, client conferences and negotiating sessions and closings for business transactions.
To receive a thorough and candid explanation of and engage in open dialogue with attorneys at all levels about our vision, mission, core values, management philosophy and policies, the business side of the firm's practice and the relevance and importance of these topics to the associate's career.
The program is six weeks in duration. Hiring decisions are made shortly after the program's completion, so associates can experience another firm during the second half of the summer. Please check with your law school career center for our on-campus interview dates.
