Job Title: Term Faculty (Non-Tenure Track) – Law (25-26)

Responsibilities:

- Develop a vision for the direction of the International Human Rights Law Clinic (IHRC)
- Teach clinical seminar and supervise law students
- Plan and teach courses, develop curriculum, and select clients/projects
- Conduct individual case/project work and handle clinic administration
- Teach one non-clinical course per year
- Serve as the Executive Director of the International Human Rights Law Institute
- Assist with fundraising for the clinic
- Full-time, non-tenure track position beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year

Required Qualifications:

- Juris Doctorate
- Minimum of five years of relevant practice experience in international human rights law, international humanitarian law, or international criminal law
- Active bar admission
- Excellent academic record
- Excellent analytical and writing skills
- Commitment to working in a diverse professional and client environment
- Commitment to clinical education

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience supervising law students
- Prior legal teaching experience

DePaul Law is seeking a Director for its International Human Rights Law Clinic (IHRC) beginning July 1, 2025. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to shape the direction of the IHRC and will be responsible for all aspects of running the clinic, including teaching, supervising law students, and handling administration. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position with a salary range of $84,455 - $92,000 per year.

The IHRC is a part of DePaul Law's international human rights law program and has been a mainstay of the law school since 1990. The IHRC is known for its work in post-conflict justice, human rights documentation and analysis, and capacity building for legal professionals. The selected candidate will also serve as the Executive Director of the International Human Rights Law Institute and will teach one non-clinical course per year.

Minimum qualifications for this position include a Juris Doctorate, at least five years of relevant practice experience in international human rights law, and an active bar admission. The ideal candidate will also have excellent academic credentials, analytical and writing skills, and a commitment to working in a diverse professional and client environment. Experience supervising law students and prior legal teaching experience are preferred qualifications.
