Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for supporting litigators that have a high volume of work. Will assist and provide a wide range of legal support to the supervising attorney. Maintain files, conduct legal research, draft documents, communicate with clients and other parties involved in the cases, etc. Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and articles. Organize and maintain documents in the physical file and in the firm's document management software. Gather, maintain current and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation. Write reports to help attorneys prepare for trial. Obtain affidavits and other formal documents/statements that may be used as evidence in court. Assist lawyers during trials by handlings exhibits, taking notes, or reviewing trial transcripts. File exhibits, briefs, appeals, and other legal documents (after a lawyer has reviewed and approved) with the court or opposing council. Reach out to clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, or depositions. Experience of 3 - 5 years as a paralegal is required. Experience in toxic tort or asbestos is preferred. Knowledge of law offices' common practices and the legal field. Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure. Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently, with minimal supervision. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. E-filing knowledge in preparation to file all types of discovery requests, responses to opposing counsel, and motions, knowledge of legal documents and terminology, knowledge of billing, and the knowledge of investigating the facts of a case is needed.
