Position Summary:
The Senior Attorney at the Biodiversity Law Center engages in legal advocacy and litigates cases under federal environmental and natural resources law to protect biological diversity. They also supervise staff attorneys, legal fellows, and law clerks, and advise Defenders staff on legal and legislative matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative litigation strategies and litigate cases to protect imperiled wildlife and habitats
- Work across disciplines to engage in legal advocacy
- Advise Defenders staff on legal and legislative matters
- Supervise and mentor staff attorneys, legal fellows, and law clerks
- Generate written products to advance Defenders' conservation work
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- JD and appropriate state bar license(s) required
- 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role
- Substantial knowledge of federal environmental and natural resources laws
- Strong research and writing skills
- Commitment to public interest advocacy and conservation
