Position Overview:
The Legal and Legislative Affairs intern will have the opportunity to work in various units within the Office of Legal Affairs. The intern will gain valuable experience in legal research and summarization of Appellate and Supreme Court Decisions, as well as working closely with the Administrative Hearings Unit and the immigration unit. The intern will also have the opportunity to improve their writing skills and communication with a variety of agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and summarize Appellate and Supreme Court Decisions
- Assist in the processing of administrative appeals and writing Final Agency Decisions
- Work closely with the immigration unit to provide education and assistance to DCF staff and clients
- Communicate with a variety of agencies in a professional manner
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the Legal and Legislative Affairs team
Qualifications:
- Must be a current college student
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong communication skills
- Interest in social work, psychology, business management, or related fields
- Knowledge of legal procedures and terminology is a plus
- Must pass a background check, including fingerprinting and driving record check
