Job Responsibilities

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the law firm plays a crucial role in shaping and executing the organization's technology strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CIO is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and implementation of software and application development. The CIO is tasked with implementing scalable solutions to support business growth.

Managing the IT budget and resources is another key responsibility. The CIO oversees the allocation of funds for IT projects, hardware, software, and staff, providing leadership and guidance to the IT team to create a skilled, motivated, and congenial work environment.

The CIO is also responsible for overseeing IT infrastructure, development, and operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of computer systems, networks, and data processing. This includes leading digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, client experience, and business growth. The role involves negotiating contracts, managing relationships with IT vendors, and ensuring timely service delivery.

Expertise in mortgage default processes is utilized to develop and implement technology solutions that support the firm's operations in this area. The CIO collaborates with relevant departments to address technology needs related to mortgage default and develops project management methodologies and practices to ensure successful project delivery.

Cybersecurity and risk management are critical aspects of the role. The CIO develops and implements robust cybersecurity strategies to protect the firm's data and systems, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. The CIO oversees risk management processes to identify, assess, and mitigate technology-related risks.

Staying abreast of emerging technologies is essential for the CIO. They keep up with the latest trends and innovations in IT to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. The CIO serves as the primary point of contact for technology matters with internal and external stakeholders.

Advising the executive team is another responsibility. The CIO collaborates with the executive team, providing expert advice on IT matters, including strategic planning and risk management.

In a multi-state law practice, the CIO ensures that IT solutions comply with multi-state regulations and legal requirements. They collaborate with legal teams to address technology-related legal issues across different states.

Education and Experience Information

The position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology/Systems, Computer Software, Software Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is considered a plus. The candidate must possess expert-level written and verbal communication skills.

Experience requirements include 5-7 years of management experience in a technology role and 10-15 years of experience in IT or data management. Industry-specific experience in legal or mortgage default servicing is considered a plus. The candidate should have the ability to navigate complex technological environments and manage multiple priorities.

Key skills include the ability to develop automation and integration with various client systems, hands-on knowledge of the Microsoft application stack, proactive problem-solving approaches, strong decision-making capabilities, strategic planning and execution capabilities, and a proven track record of driving technological innovation and transformation. Knowledge of multi-state law practice, expertise in RPA, AI, and extensive integration, and knowledge of mortgage default processes are also required.
