Summary:

The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., is responsible for investigating and supervising individuals convicted of federal crimes, enforcing sentences, and providing correctional treatment to those under supervision. The Probation Officer position involves both Presentence Investigation and Post-Conviction Supervision duties, and may be placed at Classification Level (CL) 25, 27, or 28 depending on qualifications and experience.

Duties:

- Conduct Presentence Investigations and prepare reports
- Apply . Sentencing Commission guidelines and case law
- Determine appropriate sentencing recommendations
- Resolve disputed issues and testify in court
- Develop supervision plans for persons under supervision
- Maintain case records and personal contact with individuals under supervision
- Coordinate, monitor, and verify activities of persons under supervision
- Use evidence-based practices to assess risk and needs
- Investigate violations, report to the court, and implement appropriate alternatives or sanctions

Qualifications:

- One year of specialized experience for CL-25 level
- Two years of specialized experience for CL-27 level
- Two years of specialized experience for CL-28 level
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Superior academic achievement or completion of one academic year of graduate work
- Must be physically capable and possess good distance vision and normal hearing ability
- Must undergo a medical examination, drug testing, and background investigation
