The **** is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of Assistant Attorney General in the Revenue Litigation Bureau. This is a challenging and rewarding role, representing the interests of the State in a variety of litigation matters involving tax enforcement and debt collection.
Key Responsibilities:
• Represent the State in litigation involving the civil enforcement of taxes administered by the Department of Revenue, including small collection cases and major litigation involving large corporate taxpayers.
• Handle bankruptcy cases across the country, responding to objections to claims filed by the Department or filing objections to confirmation of plans by debtors.
• Collect debts owed to other State agencies, including property damage and personal injury cases.
• Supervise the assessment and collection of Illinois Estate Taxes.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of two years of litigation experience representing creditors in miscellaneous tort litigation and general collection work.
• Experience in domestic relations, probate, real estate, bankruptcy, workers’ compensation, state and local taxation, and supplementary citation proceedings is preferred but not required.
• Must be licensed by the State of Illinois at the time of application.
Salary:
The starting salary for this position is $81,000.
