Job Title: Staff Attorney - Special Education Project
Experience: 1 year of special education law experience preferred
Salary: $68,000 - $80,000 with excellent benefits
Location: Baltimore, Maryland (in-office with potential for hybrid schedule)
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (MVLS) is seeking a Staff Attorney for their Special Education Project. This full-time, exempt position will oversee the administration of the project, provide support and advice to panel members, and represent a limited number of individuals in special education matters. The ideal candidate will have a . from an accredited law school and be admitted to the Maryland Bar, with one year of special education law experience preferred. Spanish language proficiency is desirable, and a commitment to public interest is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Special Education Fund, including vetting potential panel members, recruiting panel members, and approving Fund payments
- Provide support and advice to panel of advocates, consultants, and attorneys
- Represent a limited number of individuals in special education matters
- Conduct trainings and create educational materials for panel members and community partners on special education topics
- Engage in client-centered advocacy work with agencies, community partners, and legislators
- Conduct program outreach to community-based nonprofits and agencies
- Develop self-help materials for unrepresented individuals
- Prepare required reporting for special education grant
- Supervise the Special Education Project Advocate
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Professional Experience:
- . from an accredited law school
- Must be admitted to the Maryland Bar and in good standing, or barred in another state and willing to take the Maryland bar
- 1 year of special education law experience preferred
- Spanish language proficiency is desirable
- Demonstrated commitment to public interest
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and case management software
- Demonstrated commitment to marginalized communities
Compensation:
- Salary is $68,000 - $80,000 commensurate on experience
