Job Title: Family Law Associate Attorney
Job Overview:
A San Jose-based law firm with a growing presence in family law is seeking a dedicated Family Law Associate Attorney. This role offers the chance to engage directly with clients, participate in substantive litigation, and influence the lives of individuals navigating complex domestic matters. The position is remote-flexible but requires California residency to accommodate in-person court appearances and client interactions.
Duties:
Handle a wide range of domestic relations cases, including dissolution of marriage, custody disputes, and financial support matters
Engage in direct communication with clients to develop a case strategy and provide legal guidance
Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and other legal documents
Represent clients at hearings, mediations, and depositions
Collaborate with colleagues in a team-driven setting to advance firm goals
Maintain attention to detail while managing multiple active matters
Contribute to a high-functioning, technology-enabled legal environment
Requirements:
0-3 years of experience in family law preferred
Open to candidates with general litigation experience and a strong interest in transitioning to family law
Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar
Demonstrated legal writing and oral advocacy skills
Ability to navigate high-pressure deadlines and multitask efficiently
Client-oriented approach with sensitivity to the emotional aspects of family law cases
Education:
Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active California Bar admission required
Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Strong analytical thinking and legal research proficiency
Ability to adapt quickly to new legal technology platforms
Detail-focused with a high level of organizational discipline
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Job Location:
