Practice Manager for Real Estate Department at Katten Law Firm in Chicago
Katten Law Firm, a prestigious full-service law firm, is seeking a Practice Manager to support the Real Estate Department and other practice groups under the Director’s oversight. This position offers the opportunity to work with a team of over 700 attorneys in multiple locations across the United States and internationally. As a trusted advisor to the department and practice group leaders, the Practice Manager will play a critical role in driving the strategic and profitable growth of the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted, strategic support to National and Local Department Heads and Practice Group Leaders in executing department and practice group initiatives.
- Collaborate with various functional teams, including Attorney Development, Attorney Recruiting, Marketing and Business Development, Finance, and Information Technology, on firm-wide projects and initiatives.
- Maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters.
- Implement firm-wide strategic projects and initiatives at the department and practice group levels.
- Manage general daily administration and business operations of the department, including facilitating implementation of strategic business planning action items.
- Liaise with key functional and operational teams on behalf of the legal department.
- Oversee content development for practice group intranet sites and perform regular audits to ensure attorneys have appropriate support.
- Facilitate the annual business planning process for practice groups and collaborate with department and firm leadership to develop business strategies.
- Review and analyze department financial performance and collaborate with Finance team members to respond to attorney requests for financial information.
- Partner with various functional teams on related projects and initiatives, including Lateral Attorney Onboarding.
- Act as a decision-maker and contributor on all levels within scope of the position’s responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; . or . preferred.
- Minimum of five years relevant experience in a law firm.
- Client service experience a plus.
- Computer proficiency with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.
- Highly motivated with a strategic focus and understanding of current legal market trends and innovations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment.
- Dependable team player with high energy, creativity, and vision.
- Management experience, including coaching, mentoring, and delegation skills.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills.
Location:
This position may be located in our Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, or Washington . office. Katten offers a hybrid work model, allowing for both on-site and remote work (KattenFlex).
