Amazon is seeking a talented commercial real estate lawyer to join our Legal Department as Legal Counsel – Real Estate/Colo supporting our rapidly growing business, Amazon Web Services (AWS). As part of our dynamic and innovative team, you will play a crucial role in supporting AWS's worldwide data center expansion through land acquisitions, leases, and serviced licenses.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of transactions, ranging from standard contracts to complex, bespoke agreements. You will also have the chance to collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage outside counsel, and advise internal business clients. In addition, you will help develop and implement process improvements and handle legal disputes and inquiries.

If you have 5+ years of legal experience, a Juris Doctor degree, and membership in one state bar or equivalent, we encourage you to apply!
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate a variety of real estate transactional documents such as leases, lease amendments, purchase and sale agreements, easements, development agreements, and co-ownership agreements.
- Provide legal counsel and contract interpretation to business team members on a daily basis.
- Manage multiple projects and meet aggressive deadlines.
- Develop and implement process improvements across the team.
- Resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships.
- Handle pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of legal experience.
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
- Experience drafting and negotiating real estate transactional documents.
- Experience in a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong analytical, written and oral communication, and client interaction skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets and ranges from $138,500/year to $229,000/year. Pay is based on factors such as market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We are a total compensation company and may also provide equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation as part of a total package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
