Job Summary:

• Seeking dedicated Assistant Attorney Generals to perform complex legal work for the State of Arizona.
• Provides legal advice, counsel and representation for the State's interest.
• Jurisdiction over various areas including consumer fraud, white collar crime, public corruption, and environmental laws.
• Prosecutes cases handled by county attorneys when there is a conflict.
• Positions available in the Child and Family Protection Division, with openings statewide.

Job Duties:

• Provides legal representation and advice in complex cases in State and Federal court.
• Prepares legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, and memoranda.
• Conducts legal research, investigations, and discovery.
• Responds to inquiries from law enforcement and the general public.
• Attends meetings and trainings as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

• Knowledge and understanding of applicable statutes, case law and court rules.
• Familiarity with legal techniques and the basic concepts of American Jurisprudence.
• Understanding of financial considerations for the state.
• Acquired skills and abilities through lengthy and varied experience in legal practice, especially in complex litigation.
• Knowledge of ethical standards applicable to lawyers and public employees.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and articulate legal arguments, assess evidence, and communicate effectively with clients.
• Able to effectively plan, organize, and direct complex investigations and cases.
• Skilled in interpersonal relationships and able to work with various agencies and individuals.
• Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving methods.
• Encourages teamwork and collaboration.
• Able to manage a high volume of cases and effectively utilize subordinate staff.
• Displays professional and courteous behavior.
• Applies professional ethical rules in daily practice.
• Exercises good judgment in making strategic decisions and providing legal advice.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Valid Arizona Driver's License and consent to periodic driving record checks.
• Admission to, and good standing with, the Arizona State Bar.
• Writing sample required with application.
• Fingerprinting and criminal background check required for all serious candidates.
