Job Title: Legal Secretary
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare legal filings by formatting documents, pulling exhibits, proofreading and redacting documents.
- Draft and send routine correspondence to relevant parties.
- Prepare court forms including notices and other pleadings.
- Perform e-filing of court filings in both State and Federal courts.
- Open new matters and process matters for closing.
- Manage and organize documents ensuring proper saving to the Document Management System.
- Maintain familiarity with court and agency rules, filing procedures, and client guidelines.
- Create and maintain case contact sheets for effective case management.
- Handle calendaring by maintaining attorney calendars and ensuring all dates and deadlines are accurately recorded.
- Schedule depositions and manage associated logistics.
- Manage expense reimbursements for attorneys and staff.
- Handle bills for third-party vendors and process checks accordingly.
Education and Experience Information:
- Must have 2+ years of litigation experience.
- Prior experience with e-filing and understanding of litigation procedures and processes is required.
- Familiarity with State and Federal court procedures and rules is essential.
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to integrate into a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and organize multiple tasks concurrently is necessary.
- Must be capable of working independently and be self-motivated.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) is required; familiarity with iManage/eDockets is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Must be a team player who can collaborate effectively with colleagues.
