Position Summary:
- Seeking a strategic and creative Indirect Tax professional with experience in state and local indirect taxation.

- Responsible for providing state and local indirect tax planning, consulting, and compliance services to a diverse client base in various industries.

- Responsible for researching state and local indirect tax legislation, identifying opportunities for operational efficiency, and assisting with various consulting projects.
- Will also assist with engagement management, client billings, and drafting new proposals.
- Will coordinate with in-house tax preparation team and clients' tax department.
- Will perform detailed technical review of state and local indirect tax returns.
The Team:
- Deloitte's Multistate Tax Services (MTS) group is the largest State and Local Tax (SALT) practice in the United States.
- Team includes former state tax auditors and administrators, industry personnel, tax practitioners, accounting specialists, and technology personnel.
- Team has significant experience with requirements and nuances of jurisdictions in all 50 states.
- Services include state income and franchise tax, indirect tax, business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax outsourcing, excise tax, property tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 3+ years' experience in state and local indirect tax.
- Experience with tax planning, research, and analysis.
- Experience preparing and reviewing state and local indirect tax returns.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- One of the following accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain: CPA, licensed attorney, or Enrolled Agent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax or JD and/or LLM.
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience, relevant industry or state tax jurisdictional experience.
- Excellent research, writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Leadership experience.

- Wage range for this role takes into account factors such as skill sets, experience, training, certifications, and business needs.

- Typical for individuals to be hired below the top of the range and compensation decisions are dependent on individual circumstances.
- Reasonable estimate of current range is $56,000 to $99,600.
