Overview:
BakerHostetler, a leading law firm, is seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property Practice Group in their Washington, DC office. This is a full-time position with competitive salary and benefits.

Job Description:
The Patent Agent will work with regional, national, and multinational clients in the chemical sciences field. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of patent prosecution experience, a PhD, ., or . in agrichemical sciences, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a related field, and USPTO registration. They will also have strong communication skills and the ability to analyze data and draft patent applications.

Responsibilities:
- Interview inventors and gather technical details for patent applications
- Review patent applications and complex terminology
- Analyze data and provide recommendations
- Draft patent applications and claims
- Analyze claim rejections and prepare strategic responses and amendments

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience in chemical sciences
- PhD, ., or . in agrichemical sciences, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or related field
- USPTO registration
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent academic record and/or research credentials

Location:
This position will be located in the Washington, DC office.

Salary:
The expected annual salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000, with the exact salary determined by factors such as experience level, education/training, and relevant skills. In addition to salary, Patent Agents are eligible for a discretionary performance bonus program and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, vacation time, paid holidays, 401(k) plan, parental leave, and more.
