A prominent law firm with a national presence is seeking a Natural Resources Associate Attorney with 1–5 years of experience to join its California team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on complex natural resources matters involving water law, environmental compliance, permitting, and public agency issues. The ideal candidate will play a key role in high-impact projects involving litigation, regulatory counseling, and infrastructure development.

Handle litigation and administrative proceedings related to natural resources law
Advise clients on strategic water supply planning, permitting, and regulatory compliance
Assist with groundwater adjudications, water rights, and water utility legal issues
Support public agency clients on matters including Proposition 26 and Proposition 218
Navigate CEQA and NEPA compliance issues for a wide range of development projects
Participate in complex permitting processes involving federal, state, and local agencies
Provide due diligence for water rights transfers and infrastructure use
Draft legal memoranda, correspondence, and public-facing documents
Collaborate with clients, public officials, and internal teams on multi-jurisdictional matters
1–5 years of legal experience in natural resources or environmental law
Background in water rights, permitting, CEQA/NEPA, and related litigation
Familiarity with public agency law and California water policy frameworks
Ability to manage multiple projects and interact with diverse stakeholders
Commitment to high-quality client service and legal excellence
Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
Strong academic credentials required
Admission to the California State Bar preferred (or eligibility to obtain)
Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Strong oral communication and public presentation abilities
Organized, self-motivated, and reliable under deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, clients, and government officials
Experience in high-stakes regulatory or administrative proceedings is a plus
