Job Summary:
As a Family Law Attorney, you will have the opportunity to assist individuals in a variety of family law situations, including prenuptial agreements, divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. You will also handle sensitive legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence with composure, effective negotiation, and strong advocacy skills. This role requires a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in family law and a 4-year degree with a legal background. Active membership in the American Bar Association is also preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in court proceedings as needed
- Maintain organized and up-to-date client files
- Advocate for clients by understanding their needs and forming effective strategies
- Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and contracts
- Communicate with other attorneys and paralegals to move through the civil litigation process
Qualifications:
- 4-year degree with a legal background
- 3-5 years of experience in family law
- Ability to represent both plaintiff and defendant sides of a case
- Active member of the American Bar Association
- Previous criminal justice or legal background preferred
- Detail-oriented and dependable
- Licensed to practice law in North Carolina
