Job Title: Law Student Intern

Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues under the supervision of the Attorney General's Office.
- Assist in the preparation of legal documents, including briefs, motions, and memoranda.
- Participate in case management and strategy meetings, contributing to discussions on legal approaches and tactics.
- Support attorneys in the division with case preparation and litigation support, including reviewing and organizing case files and evidence.
- Attend and observe court proceedings, depositions, and client meetings to gain practical experience in legal processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with different divisions within the Attorney General's Office, such as Antitrust, Consumer Protection, Criminal Appeals, Civil Litigation, and others, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the legal work conducted by the office.
- Engage in meaningful legal work that contributes to the enforcement of state and federal laws, including consumer protection, antitrust, criminal appeals, and civil litigation.
- Assist in the investigation of legal matters, including gathering facts, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing evidence.
- Participate in joint enforcement efforts with other state attorneys general and federal agencies.
- Provide support in high-impact, high-visibility cases, including constitutional challenges and complex litigation.

Education and Experience Information:
- The internship program is open to law students enrolled in an accredited ABA law school.
- Applicants must be either 2nd or 3rd-year law students.
- Students must be able to intern a minimum of 20 hours per week or as prescribed by their law school.
- Law students seeking academic credit must provide documentation verifying their eligibility for credit or participation in a law school-sponsored program (., Pro Bono Programs, Law School Sponsored Clinics, Law School Paid Stipend Programs).
- 2nd and 3rd-year law students are required to provide a writing sample at the time of the interview if selected.
- Applicants must submit an application form, résumé, letter from an advisor or university, and an official or unofficial transcript.

Salary Information:
- The internship is unpaid and does not offer compensation or benefits, except for Worker’s Compensation benefits with the State of Florida or the Office of the Attorney General for any work performed on a voluntary unpaid basis.

Legal Terminology and Important Information:
- Interns will not be compensated or eligible for any benefits, with the exception of Worker’s Compensation benefits.
- Interns must authorize a preliminary background screening, including a criminal background check on the FCIC/NCIC database.
- Interns must report adult criminal history information regardless of whether records have been sealed or expunged.
- A "Yes" answer to criminal history questions will not necessarily bar a candidate from an internship opportunity; the nature, severity, and date of the offense will be considered.
- Interns must certify the accuracy of the information provided in their application and consent to the release of information related to their ability, employment history, and fitness for the internship.
- The internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical legal experience and contribute to the enforcement of laws and the protection of the public interest.
