The Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York, Inc. (LASMNY) is seeking a Supervising Attorney for their Disability Advocacy Program (DAP). This is a full-time position with a salary range of $91,400 - $124,383 annually, depending on experience. The Supervising Attorney will provide leadership and supervision in supplying comprehensive legal services to eligible clients in the Utica, Syracuse, Binghamton, Oswego, Oneonta, and Watertown locations. The position will report to the Deputy Director of Litigation Services and the application deadline is ongoing until the position is filled.

Job Summary:
- Supervising Attorney position for Disability Advocacy Program
- Reports to Deputy Director of Litigation Services
- Provides leadership and supervision for attorneys and paralegal advocates assisting individuals with federal disability benefits
- Responsible for providing culturally competent legal services to low-income clients, including advice, negotiation, litigation, and administrative advocacy
- Independently manages a caseload while also supervising and coordinating the periodic review of cases
- Identifies leadership development and mentoring opportunities for supervisees and trains less experienced attorneys, paralegals, and staff
- Builds relationships and collaborates with various organizations and community groups to address legal problems in the community
- Responsible for proper grant management, program reporting, and compliance review
- Engages in outreach and education efforts to reach community members and service providers
- Occasional travel to various courts and LASMNY offices within the service area
Job Qualifications:
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice in NYS or eligible for admission on motion
- Minimum of three (3) years of legal experience required
- Strong understanding of how civil legal issues affecting low-income communities intersect with social and economic justice
- Substantive experience in legal issues affecting low-income tenants
- Experience supervising staff, including attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software and computerized legal research
- Fluency in other languages a plus
- Valid NYS Driver's License or ability to obtain one if required
