Lead Data Engineer – Join Cooley’s Data Science & Engineering Team

Cooley, the leading technology law firm in the world, is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join its Data Science & Engineering team. This key role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining a data lake and scalable data pipelines and architectures in support of Cooley’s data-driven goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with data engineering platforms, SQL databases, and programming languages, as well as a strong understanding of data architecture principles and cloud computing.

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and implement scalable data pipelines
- Analyze and optimize existing data pipelines for performance and efficiency
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver technical solutions
- Implement data governance and security measures
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data processing, performance, and system reliability

Required Skills and Experience:

- 5+ years of experience with data lakes or similar data engineering platforms
- Extensive experience with SQL databases and programming languages
- Strong knowledge of data engineering concepts, ETL processes, and data architecture principles
- Proficiency in Python/PySpark and SQL for data transformation and querying
- Experience with structured and unstructured data and cloud-based storage solutions
- Familiarity with systems such as Salesforce
- Understanding of cloud computing principles, preferably within the Azure ecosystem
- Experience implementing and maintaining security measures and data governance standards

Preferred Skills and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with data modeling, data warehousing, and governance
- Experience with additional Azure services
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs
- Data Engineer certification or equivalent
- Exposure to machine learning and Generative AI concepts
