Job Description:
- Conduct detailed investigations to locate absent parents, establish paternity, and obtain court orders for financial support and health care coverage for children
- Negotiate out-of-court settlements and agreements with parties
- Monitor child support cases and refer delinquent cases for appropriate enforcement actions
- Review and maintain child support virtual files for accuracy
- Attend court to assist legal staff, as needed
- Research case information using computer systems
- Maintain knowledge of child support policies, procedures, and laws
- Assess child support cases and determine appropriate actions
- Provide training and technical assistance to office staff
- Supervise office staff in the absence of office manager or supervisor
- Explain Child Support Program policies and regulations to customers
- Respond to complex customer inquiries and resolve complaints
- Serve as a Notary Public
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with agency policies and procedures
- Attend work regularly and adhere to work schedule
- Lift and relocate up to 30 lbs.
- Travel up to 15% (including overnight travel)
- Type 35 words per minute
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience in related fields
- 4 years of full-time experience in child support, credit collections, investigations, legal assistant, legal secretary, customer service, or IV-A eligibility
- Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques, child support policies, procedures, and processes
- Strong interview and negotiation skills
- Proficiency with personal computer for data entry and word processing
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities
- Ability to receive and respond positively to feedback
- Team player who can work in a professional office environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must work in-person at assigned OAG location and have personal transportation for business-related travel
- Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and lift up to 30 lbs.
