Salary: Paid salary, with additional information provided at the interview stage
Location: Ohio (Dayton, Toledo, and one other location)
Practice Areas of Law: Consumer Protections, Civil Rights, and Poverty Law
Organization Overview:
- Unrestricted, non-profit law firm serving northwest and west central Ohio
- Provides high-quality legal services in civil matters to low-income individuals and groups
- Strives to address root causes of poverty and provide legal assistance in a wide range of civil areas
- Represents agricultural workers and immigrants, victims of domestic violence, tenants facing evictions, individuals seeking public benefits and healthcare, and students in need of educational opportunities
- Handles individual cases and large-scale litigation in state and federal courts
- Advocates for policy changes on issues facing clients
- Committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace
Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Work full-time (35 hours per week) for a minimum of 10 weeks from May 19, 2025, to July 25, 2025
- Attend a program orientation in Toledo on May 19, 2025 (virtual accommodations available)
- Comply with all ABLE policies and procedures
- Cover letter, resume, and list of three professional references required
- Passion for public service and commitment to meeting program requirements
- Interest in serving low-income and marginalized families and communities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hybrid environment
Compensation:
- Paid salary for full-time work
- Additional funding or grants may be available for those who secure them
- Reimbursement for program-related travel
