Job Title: Assistant State's Attorney - Entry Level 1-5 Years' Experience, Criminal Division
Experience: 1 or more years of criminal law experience preferred
Salary: $88,434 (based on various factors including skill set and experience)

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prosecuting cases under the Criminal Code of the State of Illinois
- Managing misdemeanor and traffic caseloads
- Handling preliminary hearings, grand jury indictments, and bond hearings
- Working closely with multiple law enforcement agencies
- Representing the People of the State of Illinois in hearings and trials
- Effectively communicating the mission and values of CCSAO to diverse communities
- Preparing misdemeanor and traffic cases for disposition
- Litigating motions, petitions, bench and jury trials
- Working with witnesses and victims to prepare for testimony
Minimum Qualifications:
- Law degree (.) from an accredited law school
- Member in good standing with the Illinois bar or eligible for admission on motion
- 1 or more years of criminal law experience
- Excellent legal research and writing abilities
- Ability to articulate sound legal arguments both orally and in writing
- Solid work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of criminal practice
- 1-2 years of prosecutorial practice
- 1-2 years of trial experience at misdemeanor or felony level
Working Environment:
- Assigned to cover geographical areas in Cook County
- Prosecuting cases under the Criminal Code of the State of Illinois
- Managing misdemeanor and traffic caseloads
- Working closely with multiple law enforcement agencies
- Representing the People of the State of Illinois in hearings and trials
- Must be able to work well with diverse communities and have strong time management skills
Physical Requirements:
- Light work, involving lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time
- Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time
