Summary:
The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is looking for a qualified Assistant Attorney General II to join their General Litigation Division in Austin, Texas. This position offers a competitive salary of $7,500 - $8, per month and excellent benefits. As part of the OAG, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of cases, including constitutional and civil rights litigation, employment litigation, and public policy matters. Key Responsibilities:
- Represent state agencies and officials in lawsuits involving civil rights, employment, and constitutional issues in both state and federal court
- Conduct investigations, perform legal research, and prepare complex motions and other legal documents
- Provide legal advice and counsel to state agencies
- Prepare and try cases in state and federal courts
- Maintain knowledge of laws and legal principles relevant to the General Litigation Division
- Attend work regularly and comply with agency policies and procedures
- Ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive information
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited law school with a .
- One year of full-time experience in civil litigation as a licensed attorney
- Licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas
- Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
- Knowledge of laws and legal principles relevant to the General Litigation Division
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and deadline management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities
- Ability to receive and respond positively to feedback
- Ability to work well in a professional office environment and provide excellent customer service
- Ability to work in-person at the assigned OAG work location and travel as needed
- Ability to lift and relocate up to 30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in civil litigation as a licensed attorney
- Experience with state and federal court trials
- Knowledge of laws and procedures in the General Litigation Division
