The OAG is currently accepting applications for the 2025 Summer Paid Program for Law Students. This program offers paid placements in various bureaus and regional offices throughout the state. The OAG is deeply engaged in local community affairs and is committed to defending, regulating, and promoting justice for all New Yorkers. This is a great opportunity for law students to gain valuable experience and contribute to important work in areas such as elder abuse, consumer fraud, tenants’ rights, immigration services fraud, election fraud, and not-for-profit corporations.
Job Description:
- Paid placements available in various bureaus and regional offices throughout New York State
- Placements are hybrid only

How to Apply:
- Applications for summer paid placements are being accepted online. To apply, click on the reference number for a specific bureau/regional office in the table above.
- Limit of five (5) applications across all bureaus/regional offices
- Submit a cover letter, resume, list of three (3) references, and a writing sample
- Cover letter should address interest in OAG, relevant experiences, and format preference (hybrid or remote)
- Writing sample should demonstrate analytical, advocacy, and grammatical skills
- Incomplete applications will delay consideration
- Applications cannot be edited once submitted, so it is recommended to have someone review documents before submission
- Submit application at least three (3) weeks before any deadlines that could impact candidacy
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in law school
- Strong interest in public interest/public service work
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Organization Overview:
- The OAG carries out essential defensive, regulatory, and affirmative justice functions throughout New York State
- Deeply engaged in local community affairs and conducts outreach and educational presentations
- Responds to New Yorkers’ complaints in critical areas such as elder abuse, consumer fraud, tenants’ rights, immigration services fraud, election fraud, and not-for-profit corporations
