**Job Responsibilities:**

The Attorney position at the organization under the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. involves several critical responsibilities. Under the general supervision of the General Counsel and the direct supervision of the Regional Director, the incumbent acts as the investigating and prosecuting attorney in legal matters involving complex, difficult, and sensitive unfair labor practices under the Agricultural Labor Relations Act. The duties include:

- Conducting pre-complaint investigations in conjunction with Field Examiners. This involves interviewing witnesses, preparing legal memos and advice requests, participating in and preparing charge disposition memoranda, and providing ongoing legal guidance and advice to further investigations.
- Preparing complaints and legal documents such as motions, petitions, subpoenas, briefs, correspondence, and settlements for unfair labor practice proceedings. The Attorney is responsible for administrative hearings and trial preparations, including witness preparation, and independently presenting difficult and complex cases before Administrative Law Judges.
- Overseeing compliance proceedings by preparing back pay and make-whole specifications, completing final specifications and notices of hearing, and preparing legal documents. - Investigating representation petitions, working with Field Examiners in pre-election conferences, communicating with parties as needed, and conducting post-election challenge ballot investigations.
- Conducting outreach to diverse stakeholder communities and performing other tasks as assigned.

**Education and Experience Information:**

- Active membership in The California State Bar is required for all Attorney levels.
- The position requires a valid BAR License, which must be provided before being hired.
- For the entry-level Attorney position, incumbents are assigned legal work related to their appointing authority's responsibilities. They may review, analyze, interpret, and apply laws, court decisions, and other legal authorities in the preparation of cases, opinions, and briefs.
- Attorneys at Range A perform the least difficult legal work, while those at Range B independently perform professional legal work of average difficulty.
- Desirable qualifications include Spanish language skills, understanding of issues affecting low-wage immigrant workers, legal research, writing, analysis, and advocacy skills, labor law experience, familiarity with the Agricultural Labor Relations Act, hearing and/or trial experience, litigation experience, experience working with outside counsel, and knowledge of rules of evidence, administrative hearings, and state and federal civil procedure.

**Salary Information:**

- The salary range for the Attorney position is $7, - $11, per month. The classification for the position varies, with Attorney A having a salary range of $7, - $10, and Attorney B having a range of $8, - $11,.
