Are you an experienced legal professional looking for a new opportunity in the music industry? BMI, a leading performing rights organization, is seeking a Senior Director of Business Affairs to join their team in Nashville, TN. In this role, you will be responsible for strategizing, negotiating, and advising on various licensing matters, as well as providing legal and business affairs support for BMI's media and digital sales teams. As a key member of the General Licensing team, you will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure the best interests of the company are represented in all deals.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, along with a minimum of four years' transactional legal experience. Business affairs experience in a music company or IP transactions is preferred, as well as knowledge of copyright law and/or the music industry. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think strategically in a complex business and legal environment are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:
- Strategize, negotiate, and advise on various licensing matters for BMI's General Licensing team
- Provide legal and business affairs support for BMI's media and digital sales teams
- Lead the creation of new license terms and agreements for newly identified markets
- Advise on copyright, contract, and other legal issues related to licensing matters
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and applicable laws and regulations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's and Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Minimum of four years' transactional legal experience
- Business affairs experience in a music company or IP transactions preferred
- Knowledge of copyright law and/or music industry, digital, or media broadcasting experience preferred
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think strategically
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
- Admitted to the Tennessee State Bar or other State Bar with eligibility to register as in-house counsel in Tennessee
