Supervising Paralegal - Family The candidate will assist Partner and Senior Associate manage a team of legal assistants for the execution of a variety of family-based immigration matters. Will work with attorneys to optimize the process of case load management and case preparation throughout all phases. Conduct research and draft family-based immigration petitions for filing with USCIS, and preparing visa application packets for submission to Department of State. Case will include marriage-based adjustment of status, family-based adjustment of status, removal of conditions, I-601 and I-601A inadmissibility waivers, 212(d)(3) waivers, VAWA petitions, U-visas, DACA petitions, diversity lottery petitions, TPS, Global Entry and others. Oversee the drafting of client and legal correspondence documents for junior level staff. Identify potential legal issues and advising junior and senior level attorneys of issues through all phases of a case process. Collect and organize evidence and other useful information required for the legal petition. Lead case status team meetings with junior and senior legal assistants as needed and appropriate. Assign and reassigning cases to legal assistants based on a case load distribution and deadlines. Ensure attorney efficiency by notifying them of time frame or deadlines for case preparation. Prepare case summaries and other documents to support case preparation and assist attorney in client communication on potential issues. Facilitate communications between client and team by acting as the primary point-of-contact for both, including providing updates to clients on progress of a case. Provide guidance to client in situations of attorney unavailability. Oversee and mentor junior and senior legal assistants through execution of case preparation. Provide training to junior legal assistants and new team members as needed. Establish good working relationships with clients to ensure flow and relevant and appropriate communications on client accounts. Generate reports for case teams and oversee report generation for clients. Maintain and ensure team is following firm protocol with respect to file maintenance, record-keeping and use of case management system. Support and lead additional projects as required. Bachelor's degree or higher degree is required. Should have 5+ years of experience in in family and marriage-based nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions.
