Department: Real Estate & Natural Resources
Schwabe, a premier Northwest regional law firm, is seeking a highly qualified Land Use Associate to join our Real Estate & Natural Resources Department. With offices in four states, we serve clients in seven key industry sectors and have a culture based on collaboration, innovation, and a drive to help our clients achieve success.
The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school, at least 3 years of experience in real estate, environmental, land use, administrative law, or general litigation, and a strong interest in business development in the land use real estate/construction and/or natural resources industry. Oregon State Bar admission or eligibility for immediate reciprocity is required.
Responsibilities for this position include appearance at public hearings, administrative proceedings, general litigation, research and review of development feasibility, appellate briefing, analyzing administrative codes and regulations, and drafting land use applications. Practice experience in real estate and/or environmental law, administrative law, or litigation matters is a plus, and could be considered in lieu of the requisite land use experience. If requested, candidates may also be considered for a position in more than one of these practice areas.
As a member of our team, the Land Use Associate will take ownership of projects and demonstrate a strong commitment to client service and teamwork. Strong communication, self-initiative, and time management skills are essential for success in this role. This position will be based in either Bend or Portland, Oregon.
In addition to a competitive salary, this position is eligible for productivity and discretionary merit bonuses at the end of each calendar year. Schwabe also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. We are also proud to be Mansfield Rule Plus Certified, which recognizes our commitment to diversifying leadership within our firm.
At Schwabe, we are dedicated to cultivating and celebrating diversity, equity, and inclusion within our firm. We encourage individuals from historically underrepresented backgrounds to apply for this position.
