Job Title: Term Staff Attorney at Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia, PA
Salary Range: $81,474 - $97,653 per year
Experience Level: Entry level or recent law school graduates
Job Description:
- Serve as a staff attorney for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia, PA
- Work in a highly collegial environment with approximately twenty-five attorneys and a dedicated administrative staff
- Develop expertise in various areas of law, including habeas corpus, immigration, bankruptcy, civil rights, constitutional law, appellate jurisdiction, and federal civil and criminal procedure
- Gain familiarity with state and territorial laws of the Third Circuit
- Draft memoranda, per curiam opinions, and orders for judges
- Respond to questions from judges concerning individual cases
- Manage assigned cases
- Collaborate with supervisory attorneys and career attorneys
- Have the opportunity to work with and learn from attorneys with prior judicial clerkship or other professional experience
- Use strong research and writing skills to analyze legal issues
- Demonstrate maturity, good judgment, and high ethical standards
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Be flexible, motivated, and maintain a positive attitude towards work assignments
Qualifications:
- Graduating law school students or recent graduates preferred
- Strong academic background
- Demonstrated research and writing ability
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Flexibility and motivation in handling work assignments
- High ethical standards and good judgment
