Job Title: Staff Attorney
Experience: Minimum 2 years of law practice
Salary: $58,000 per year (may vary based on relevant experience)
Responsibilities:
- Conduct client intake and provide referrals, advice, brief service, or representation in various civil legal matters affecting a client's health
- Address issues related to public benefits, health insurance, access to support services, disability rights, housing conditions, end of life planning, family law, and consumer law
- Perform outreach and community education to clients and medical/social service staff
Qualifications:
- Active Georgia bar license
- Minimum 2 years of law practice experience
- Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Adaptability and eagerness to learn
- Appreciation for diversity
- Commitment to public service
- Previous experience with low-income individuals and/or those with serious health conditions preferred
- Familiarity with health and poverty law preferred
- Experience with bankruptcy and medical debt cases highly valued
- Proficiency in languages other than English a plus
