- Develop and implement strategic land protection projects in Wisconsin
- Secure important habitats for plants and animals
- Work with a team to achieve ambitious conservation goals
- Utilize a variety of tools to acquire legal interests in land
- Collaborate with other land trusts, government agencies, Tribal Nations, and private partners
- Take a lead role in identifying key lands for protection and implementing protection projects
- Build and sustain relationships with landowners, agencies, and organizations
- Negotiate complex agreements and serve as principal negotiator on real estate transactions
- Coordinate with legal counsel to develop land protection documents
- Ensure program compliance with internal policies and external requirements
- Transfer land interests to partner organizations when appropriate
- Supervise staff and interns
- Travel up to 20% of the time, sometimes for extended periods or on short notice
- Work in variable weather conditions and on difficult and hazardous terrain
- Bachelor's degree in natural resource management, law, or business
- Experience negotiating complex agreements and managing projects
- Knowledge of land protection tools and principles
- Strong organizational skills and ability to build relationships
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written
- Valid driver's license and compliance with TNC's Auto Safety Program
