The Position:
- Senior Staff Attorney for Workers' Compensation
- Fully remote with occasional travel within designated geography in California
- Handle designated caseload of complex Workers' Compensation cases
- Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve the best results for insureds
- Act as a CLE provider throughout the year

Responsibilities:
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues and conduct extensive legal research
- Independently create and present defense strategies on behalf of clients
- Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, and trial briefs
- Partner with Claims Partners to achieve the best results for insureds
- Provide effective and timely communication and legal advice to clients
- Communicate professionally with court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel
- Facilitate prompt and effective resolution of assigned cases
- Prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials and hearings
- Research, draft, file, and argue appellate briefs
- Participate in team meetings and provide in-house training
- Attend continuing legal education seminars to maintain professional expertise
Qualifications:
- JD from accredited law school and license to practice in California
- Minimum of 2 years of legal practice experience handling complex Workers' Compensation cases for Staff Attorney role
- Minimum of 5 years of legal practice experience handling complex/life pension Workers' Compensation cases for Senior Staff Attorney role
- Trial experience preferred
- Positive and collaborative team player attitude
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn new software quickly
- Lexis Nexis experience a plus
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Compensation:
- Annualized base pay range: $102,960 - $185,040
- Actual base pay may vary based on performance, proficiency, and competencies
- Other rewards may include bonuses, incentives, and recognition
- Salary range reflects ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on experience
