**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (HRF) is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Human Rights Accountability Legal Fellow. This one-year postgraduate fellowship offers a unique opportunity for third-year law students or recent graduates to work with HRF's Accountability team in promoting human rights and the rule of law through targeted sanctions against human rights abusers and corrupt foreign actors.

Responsibilities:

- Assist in promoting the use of targeted human rights and anti-corruption sanctions through collaboration with civil society groups, the Department of State, and the Department of the Treasury.
- Review and prepare recommendations for Global Magnitsky sanctions targets, as well as identify advocacy opportunities to support the issuance of sanctions.
- Conduct research on human rights and rule of law trends in the United States and relevant regions.
- Participate in meetings and advocacy efforts with executive branch officials and members of Congress.
- Draft reports, blogs, op-eds, and other materials relating to the use of targeted sanctions and the human rights implications of . foreign policy.
- Assist in organizing public events related to the use and adoption of targeted sanctions.
- Update and develop resources related to targeted sanctions, such as recommendation templates and frequently asked questions.
- Advise other governments or legislatures on the design and implementation of global human rights and anti-corruption targeted sanctions programs.
- Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

- Secured funding from an outside organization (law school, law firm, foundation, etc.).
- A ., . equivalent, or . degree from an accredited . law school, or enrollment in a program working towards completion of one of these degrees by August 2024.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Strong legal and policy research and writing skills.
- Experience in human rights or anti-corruption-related law and/or advocacy.
- Project management experience and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- A strong work ethic and ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Foreign language skills are preferred but not required.
