**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., a prominent law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a highly qualified Litigation Attorney to join our team. In this role, you will work directly with our Personal Injury department and have the opportunity to work on a variety of cases, including Workers’ Compensation, Employment Law, and more. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.
As a Litigation Attorney, you will be responsible for all aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings, managing discovery, meeting with clients, and trying cases to verdict. You will also be responsible for overseeing the work of support staff and coordinating with other departments within the Firm. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage up to 60 litigation files with the assistance of assigned staff and support staff
- Assist and direct assigned staff with day-to-day management of cases
- Evaluate potential and current cases for valuation purposes to aid in early resolution
- Identify and retain medical and legal experts for each case
- Supervise support staff and maintain communication with clients throughout the course of the claim and litigation
- Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, discovery, and other court documents
- Attend mediation and other court appearances
- Prepare matters for trial and conduct monthly file reviews with team members
- Assist Associate Attorneys in the preparation for and commencement of jury trials
- Oversee liability investigations and participate in monthly file reviews with Managing Attorneys
- Manage medical management of assigned cases and negotiate medical liens upon settlement or award
Competencies and Skills:
- Active and acute knowledge of medical and legal experts, as well as mediators, judges, and arbitrators
- Ability to settle pre-litigation and litigation cases for full value
- Experience meeting with clients and determining the need to file suit
- Ability to negotiate medical liens and identify high and low value cases
- Knowledge of statute deadlines and government claim timelines
- Availability to actively investigate cases and knowledge of Workers’ Compensation and Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist timelines
- Computer skills, including MS Office and online research tools like LEXIS-NEXIS and West Law
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate degree and current good standing with CA State bar
- Minimum 7 years’ experience working in a law firm Personal Injury department
- Excellent interpersonal and social skills
- Compassionate attitude towards clients in need of Personal Injury services
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation terminology
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred
