The EU VAT Manager - E-Invoicing and Indirect Tax Planning role at Amazon is a great opportunity for an experienced VAT professional to focus specifically on e-invoicing, e-reporting, and related transaction controls and reporting. This role will report to the EMEA Retail VAT Director as part of the wider EMEA VAT Planning team, with a key focus on these areas. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in any of Amazon's established European offices, including London, Luxembourg, Barcelona, Warsaw, or Bratislava, with regular travel to other locations likely.

Key responsibilities for this role include monitoring, tracking, and evaluating legislative developments related to e-invoicing and e-reporting, as well as analysing published laws and guidance to draft comprehensive Tax Requirements Documents and other briefing materials. The EU VAT Manager will also work closely with partner teams such as Tax Engine, FinOps, Operations, and Finance to assist with the execution of requirements, as well as support the EIC team with project management of e-invoicing implementation projects. In addition, the successful candidate may also be involved in other areas of VAT Planning work as needed.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of professional VAT experience in a global consulting, accounting, or law firm, or in the in-house indirect tax team of a global, blue chip business. They should also have experience working on previous e-invoicing projects or tax technology work, with a strong understanding of process and controls. First-rate analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, as well as a proven ability to build relationships and work with partner teams.

A relevant law degree, accounting or tax qualification is preferred but not essential if the candidate can demonstrate the appropriate knowledge and experience. At Amazon, we value diversity and believe that it is central to our success. We make recruiting decisions based on experience and skills, and we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, disability, age, or other legally protected status.
