Summary:
The VP Claims Technical Officer position is a leadership role that oversees a team of 17 adjusters and 2 data analysts. The role is responsible for handling complex, severe or systemic cyber claims, providing training on legal issues, coverage, service and compliance, and acting as a liaison to underwriting partners. The VP Claims Technical Officer also has overall responsibility for CAT claim handling and serves as a primary resource for underwriting and product management leadership. This position also includes broker and insured outreach, industry seminar participation, and collaboration with actuaries and underwriting for analytical and trending reports. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in cyber and professional liability, compliance and regulatory experience, and preferably a Bachelor’s degree and relevant designations. Responsibilities:
- Directly handle complex, severe or systemic cyber claims
- Provide training on legal issues, coverage, service and compliance
- Act as a liaison to underwriting partners for claim trends and policy language refinement
- Oversee CAT claim handling and negotiate vendor contracts
- Serve as a resource for underwriting and product management leadership in new product and endorsement drafting and review
- Conduct broker and insured outreach and participate in industry seminars
- Collaborate with actuaries and underwriting for analytical and trending reports
- Identify and establish criteria for tracking and handling systemic or quasi-systemic claims
- Ensure consistency in claim handling and policy interpretation
- Review second level coverage challenges and provide technical claims handling oversight and guidance
- Oversee data analytics team to ensure global data collection policy is in place
- Liaise with vendor management team to ensure up-to-date vendor panel and address any vendor issues
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, Juris Doctorate preferred
- Designations from CPCU, SCLA, AIC, etc. preferred
- 7-10 years of cyber/professional liability claims handling experience
- Extensive coverage/contract knowledge
- Strong analytical and investigative skills
- Technical competencies in coverage application, litigation, and contractual relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including large-group presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate and maintain business relationships
Salary Information:
- Pay range: $128,500 to $215,000
