We are currently seeking a Senior Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. In this role, you will review sales, use, and telecommunications tax data, apply client-specific business rules, and process data using KPMG's mechanized tax systems. You will also identify and recommend business requirements for tax compliance processes and help design and troubleshoot indirect tax technology solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Review sales, use, and telecommunications tax data from compliance clients and ensure proper formatting for input into tax processing systems
- Organize data into tax location codes, types, categories, authority levels, taxpayer entities, and amounts
- Apply client-specific business rules to modify data for input into tax processing systems
- Process data for tax returns using KPMG's mechanized tax systems
- Identify, document, and recommend technological business requirements and design solutions using Microsoft Access, Excel, or SQL Server
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in tax research, reviewing state income tax returns, and providing technical advice on multi-state tax issues in the asset management industry
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field; CPA, EA, JD/LLM, MST, or CMI designation preferred
- Knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications and experience with preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL Server, XML, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, or process mapping software
- Strong project management skills and ability to analyze client business needs
- Experience working with tax data from telecommunications or cable/broadband companies and knowledge of US telecommunications transaction taxes
