The Sr. Trial Attorney will report to Newport Beach and will be responsible for delivering top-quality legal services to support the mission of a Fortune 100 insurance company. The Nationwide Trial Division is a national team with approximately 40 offices across the United States. The Sr. Trial Attorney will represent clients under both commercial and personal lines insurance policies independently as lead counsel and as part of a larger team when needed. They will also be expected to maintain a highly productive case volume and demonstrate innovative thinking, effective collaboration, and a proactive approach to case management.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

- Demonstrating the necessary trial advocacy skills independently or as part of a team, efficiently managing cases, and producing high-quality work in accordance with Nationwide Trial Division guidelines.
- Collaborating with support staff and utilizing technology effectively to ensure efficient case management.
- Staying informed about changes in the law, technology, and other aspects of the legal and insurance industries that may impact liability and recovery litigation strategies.
- Providing factually, legally, and analytically sound opinions on case valuations and promptly communicating updates to clients and claims partners.
- Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with key associates within the Office of the Chief Legal Officer and claims partners, as well as colleagues within the legal and insurance industries in the assigned jurisdiction(s).
- Utilizing these relationships to improve NTD’s reputation and expand case referral opportunities within the enterprise.
- Communicating effectively and proactively with clients, claims partners, and internal NTD stakeholders.
- Mentoring junior attorneys and NTD staff, providing guidance and training, and serving as a role model for engagement, coaching, and feedback.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

The Sr. Trial Attorney will report to the Managing Trial Attorney and will need to have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. They must also maintain an active license in the state where the position is located. The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation. They should also possess strong written and verbal communication skills, negotiation skills, and excellent analytical and legal skills. Other requirements include being resourceful, a creative problem solver, and having strong time management and organization skills.
