- Represent clients in court as a certified intern
- Receive intensive courtroom advocacy experience
- Prepare cases outside of court under supervision of licensed public defender
- Conduct pre-trial and post-trial hearings, and sometimes jury trials
- Assigned a caseload of misdemeanor, traffic, or juvenile delinquency cases
- Participate in weeklong rigorous training program before beginning internship

- Must have a strong interest in public defense and criminal law
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

In order to be eligible for the internship, you must be certified by the Colorado Supreme Court. This certification allows you to practice in court as if you were a licensed attorney.
