Position: Paralegal III

Salary: per hour

Experience: At least one-year paralegal/legal assistance experience with a Paralegal Certificate; or three-years' paralegal experience with a High School Diploma/GED

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Job Description:

- Support the United States Attorneys Office (USAO) in their mission to remove the tools of crime from criminal organizations and impact the infrastructure of criminal enterprises.
- Assist attorneys in reviewing case material, gathering and analyzing information, and preparing legal references and summaries.
- Evaluate new and complex cases, determine probable cause, and advise attorneys on strengths, weaknesses, and potential defenses.
- Conduct investigations and legal research using various tools and databases.
- Prepare legal pleadings, motions, and orders.
- Organize and manage files, documents, and exhibits.
- Provide training to other personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

- Paralegal Certificate with at least one-year experience; or High School Diploma/GED with at least three-years' experience.
- One-year of automated litigation support experience.
- Knowledge of forfeiture law, policies, and procedures preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and other common software applications.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service and ability to work in a team environment.

Agency Overview:

- The USAO serves as the nation's principal litigators under the direction of the Attorney General.
- The Asset Forfeiture Section is responsible for prosecuting criminal and civil actions against property used or acquired during illegal activity.
