Conflicts Counsel
The candidate will review new business intake forms using proprietary software to ensure that all relevant parties have been appropriately identified. Research external and internal databases for pertinent information to vet prospective clients and other parties. Analyze conflict reports for the purpose of identifying potential ethical and business conflicts of interest. Work closely with the firm’s full roster of attorneys and business professionals to address and resolve conflicts of interest, gather and evaluate relevant information, apply rules of professional conduct and other law, and draft and finalize conflict waiver and engagement letters. Must have a Juris Doctorate with an active license in resident jurisdiction. Experience in a law firm environment is required, with knowledge of conflicts of interest principles strongly preferred. Should have the ability to utilize research tools such as Dun & Bradstreet, Lexis, Hoover's, Edgar, and LegalKey, and to interpret the data produced by those systems. The ability to research and apply the rules of professional conduct and other law in multiple jurisdictions to identify, evaluate, and appropriately address conflicts of interest is essential. Should also have the ability to effectively work with firm attorneys and business professionals to resolve identified conflicts where possible, including drafting and finalizing conflict waiver letters. The ability to identify parties involved in various types of legal matters (including corporate, litigation, bankruptcy, labor & employment, tax, and estate planning) and define relationships within the firm’s new business intake processes, is critical. Should have the proficiency to work independently and to exercise reasonable judgment in seeking input from the Director of Conflicts and the Office of the General Counsel as needed. Experience with Intapp programs is preferred.
