Job Title: Legal Assistant – Civil Litigation
Experience: At least two successive years of civil litigation support experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft and finalize legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence.
Manage case status, associated actions, and court deadlines.
Support a variety of practice areas including construction, personal injury, product liability, and other types of civil litigation.
Use versatile skills to handle a wide variety of assignments.
Maintain files to support and assist long-standing client relationships.
Communicate effectively with clients and others in the firm.
Coordinate financial functions and anticipate attorney needs.
Work effectively within a team environment and independently as required.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology, documents, and processes.
Familiarity with court rules and deadlines on local, state, and federal levels.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and database/client relationship management software.
Experience with e-filing in Oregon for state and federal courts.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
Proven ability to prioritize, manage time, and multitask effectively.
Join our well-established and growing law firm as a Legal Assistant – Civil Litigation. We are seeking an experienced, organized, and self-starting individual to join our team in downtown Portland. In this role, you will support our busy civil-litigation practice and work in a professional, team-oriented environment.
As a Legal Assistant – Civil Litigation, you will be responsible for maintaining case status, drafting and finalizing legal documents, managing calendars, and providing administrative support to our attorneys and paralegals. You will also have the opportunity to work on a variety of practice areas, including construction, personal injury, product liability, and more.
We are looking for someone with at least two years of civil litigation support experience and a strong understanding of legal terminology, documents, and processes. Familiarity with court rules and deadlines on local, state, and federal levels is also required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database/client relationship management software is a must, along with experience in e-filing for Oregon state and federal courts. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as well as strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Our ideal candidate is someone who can work effectively and proactively within a team environment, but also has the ability to work independently when necessary. The schedule for this position is 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with additional hours required at times. A hybrid work schedule may be available depending on the firm's needs.
