This is an entry-level position and will begin in August of 2025. We offer a comprehensive five-week training program and ongoing training opportunities throughout the year.
Responsibilities:
- Provide "vertical" representation to clients from initial appointment through final disposition
- Handle own caseload with support from mentor, Managing Attorney, Legal Assistant, and Investigator
- Handle misdemeanor and juvenile delinquency cases, with potential to handle felony cases within first six months
- Practice in assigned county but handle diverse caseload including misdemeanors, felonies, juveniles, and post-conviction matters
- Attend ongoing training twice a year and have opportunity to attend external trainings
Qualifications:
- Final year law students or recent law school graduates
- Member of New Hampshire Bar or eligible to waive in with qualifying Uniform Bar Examination score
- Strong academic background in relevant coursework such as evidence, trial advocacy, criminal procedure, and constitutional law
- Experience in criminal clinical programs or internships at public defender offices preferred
