The United States Trustee Program (USTP) is currently seeking law student volunteers for Fall 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for rising second or third year law students who are interested in gaining experience in bankruptcy, litigation, administrative law, policy, and legislation. The USTP is a litigating component of the Department of Justice (DOJ) with a mission to promote the integrity and efficiency of the bankruptcy system for the benefit of all stakeholders. About the Organization:
The USTP is a national program with 21 regions and 89 field offices, responsible for enforcing the Bankruptcy Code. They have broad authorities in bankruptcy cases, including chapter 7 and 13 consumer cases and complex chapter 11 corporate reorganizations. The USTP is uniquely positioned to address multi-jurisdictional misconduct and other national issues that may arise in the bankruptcy process, while also addressing local matters that affect the integrity of the system. Job Description:
Law student volunteers will have the opportunity to work in either the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) or one of the 89 field offices located throughout the country. OGC interns will assist with legal policies, procedures, and litigating positions for the USTP, while field office interns will assist with preparing for court appearances, reviewing documents, and monitoring meetings between debtors and creditors. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in various areas of legal practice and litigation.

Qualifications:
Successful candidates for this position will be rising second or third year law students with excellent research and writing skills, attention to detail, and a desire to work as part of a small team. Candidates must also be committed to fairness and integrity in the administration of the bankruptcy system. This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in bankruptcy, litigation, administrative law, policy, and legislation.
