**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking a passionate and driven General Counsel to lead our in-house legal department. This position requires excellent judgment, discretion, and the ability to oversee significant projects. The General Counsel will work closely with leadership of our national network of environmental and public interest organizations to help them achieve their missions while protecting organizational assets and creatively finding ways to achieve change. The successful candidate will have a . and ideally 8-16 years of legal experience in relevant practice areas, as well as a strong commitment to nonprofit and political work.

Key Responsibilities:

- Directing the legal department and developing and managing department budget, work flow protocols, and training programs for network staff.
- Ensuring corporate and tax compliance and maintaining good standing with federal and state regulators.
- Advising on employment and labor matters, as well as benefits systems.
- Providing guidance on election law and campaign finance, including non-partisan voter registration drives, voter years of legal experience in relevant practice areas.
- Strong commitment to nonprofit and political work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, research, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in diverse legal subject areas.
- Team-oriented with strong leadership, congeniality, and creativity.
- Outstanding work ethic and ability to drive organizational change.

- Comfort working with senior staff and training new staff on relevant legal principles.
- Prior experience working with or advising nonprofit organizations, with firsthand experience in organizing, issue advocacy, or political work as a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

- Starting compensation range of $75,000-$125,000, depending on relevant experience and education.
