Specialty Tax Services Associate, International Tax Services - Fall 2024 (San Francisco)
Job Description:
BDO is seeking a motivated and ambitious individual to join our team as a Specialty Tax Services Associate in our International Tax Services department. This full-time position offers the opportunity to utilize your educational background and organizational skills while gaining exposure to the development of work plans for clients and providing international tax advice. As a member of our team, you will have access to tax research resources, work with tax software applications, and coordinate with BDO colleagues in over 160 countries to provide comprehensive services to our clients.
Job Duties:
- Utilize critical thinking to provide clients with tax advice on international tax issues
- Develop work plans for assigned clients
- Stay up to date on international tax law and client developments
- Coordinate with BDO colleagues in over 160 countries on how US tax rules align with foreign tax law
- Gain an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding international taxation
- Conduct research, analyze facts and authorities, and prepare Written Tax Advice on international tax and cross-border transactions
- Assist in obtaining client information for international tax compliance forms and US international informational reporting
- Develop a basic understanding of representing clients before the IRS on contested issues
- Use tax research databases and tax-related software
- Understand and apply Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual
- Other duties as required
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or other business-related major
- ., LLM, and/or MST/MBT preferred
- Internship within a professional services firm and tax experience preferred
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with tax research databases and software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and legal and tax research skills
- Ability to meet project deadlines with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Basic understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation and law
- In-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation
- Strong legal writing background and familiarity with the IRAC method of analysis
Salary Information:
Individual salaries offered to candidates are determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
- California Range: $78,000 - $120,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $76,000 - $110,000
- Washington Range: $65,000 - $110,000
